 KATHY HERNSTAD

Kathy_Hernstad
Kathy has been a Spinning Instructor for nearly 11 years, currently at Pedal Studio in Putney, London. She is also a personal trainer and nutritional advisor, giving park or at-home sessions. Despite being nearly 8 months pregnant, Kathy is still on the bike instructing classes. Her husband, Mark, is a keen triathlete, and they look forward to the arrival of their baby girl in April.

Kathy also helped Ndoro Children's Charities in organising our 24 Hour Sponsored Spin at the end of February. Not only did she form three great teams to help fundraise and spin for us, but her team of eight succeeded in raising the most for the charity - £1,140!

In addition, she taught three hours of spin classes during the duration of the event despite her pregnancy. Kathy is a true Ndoro CC Champion!

KRISHAN RAJA

krish3

I've been going to the gym for about 5 years now, but I have only ever been in the weights section, always avoiding the treadmill and cycles like they're bad for me... I've never raced before, I've never even run more than 10 metres before! So I was set a challenge earlier in the year, to complete a marathon before I'm 25. This thought scared the life out of me, but I saw all of the wonderful causes that I could act for and realised that a challenge is exactly what I needed - my parents are from Africa and I have visited my ancestor's birthplace in India, which really opened my eyes to how lucky I am and how much people in such countries could benefit from a little action. I'm starting with a 10km run, and hopefully I will work my way up to that elusive marathon before I'm 25!

In my spare time I play the piano and guitar, I am taking Spanish lessons and I work at Microsoft, creating and running ad campaigns for clients and brands who want to showcase their products on our digital portals like MSN. I'd love to work abroad, and one day make use of my degree and teach English in a foreign country... I'm proud to be representing the wonderful cause that Ndoro's Childrens Charities work for, and can't wait to test myself on the famous Olympic route! Please sponsor me :)"

ANGELINE GAVAZA

angeline_gavaza

Angeline will be supporting Ndoro CC by taking on not one, but three huge projects:

1. She will be climbing Mount Fuji in late August this year – Check out her Blog (if you can’t add links on the newsletter put this site: http://zabehikingmountfuji.blogspot.com/) and JustGiving page! (http://www.justgiving.com/angeline-gavaza)

2. In December 2011, Angeline will be supporting us by volunteering in Zimbabwe with some of her work colleagues.

3. And as if that isn’t enough, in 2012 she will undergo a Mt. Kilimanjaro Expedition.

Angeline needs your support in donating to Mount Fuji climb, as well as some women interested in participating in the 2010 Mt. Kilimanjaro Expedition with her:

Her vision: To recruit women of African descent/African heritage to join me to conquer Kilimanjaro in 2012 for their chosen charity from their African country . One woman represents her African country! As many women as possible!

The women she is looking to recruit will be: young successful women of African descent/heritage, women who, like herself, have a burning passion for giving back to Africa, women who can aspire to meet to challenge, women who can be leaders & great ambassadors for their African country & women who can commit  to the expedition. She has already recruited one of her closest friends from Malawi.
